My name is Charlotte “Charlie” Griffin.  I grew up and went to school in Cloudcroft, NM where I played volleyball and basketball.  I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Rio Salado College.  Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in special education.  My hobbies include boating, swimming, and biking.  I enjoy white water rafting, watching sports, and most of all spending time with my son.

I have the greatest job in the world!  The chance to share the gifts of music, art, drama and dance with the talented students of Alice King is an honor!  I share my experience as a performer, teacher and presentor.  I am the lucky mother of three amazing and talented children, Santiago (17), Estevan (13) and Rosalinda (11).  I welcome ideas and feedback.  If you would like to share your talents with students, help during class times or special events like our spring musical, please leave a note at the front desk.
Music/Art Update

September 2011

This school year has been wonderful!  It is an honor to teach the talented students of Alice King Community School!  I have great news!

First, we will be starting a Glee Club in a few weeks!  This will be an after-school opportunity for students who wish to join and have fun singing!  The club will meet Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 3:05- 3:30 in the Music/Art classroom beginning on Wednesday, September 27th.  If your child is interested or if you would like to help lead the group, please e-mail me or leave a note with Jill at the front desk with contact information.  There is limited space available so please contact me by Monday, September 26thth.

This year students will be studying the guitar and keyboard.  We had a piano donated. We’re waiting for it to be tuned so that we can start using it.  I donated a small acoustic guitar, but it would be great if we had more guitars for the students to use.  If you have a guitar or keyboard to donate to the school, please drop it by the school.  Also, several parents have asked if I teach private music lessons.  I am not able to teach lessons at this time however, I am trying to put together a list of parents and community members who do offer lessons.  Please pass on the names and contact info to me.  Thank you!

Lastly, some student artwork is displayed this year at the State Fair in the school exhibit building.  This is our first year displaying any work, so we didn’t have a collection to exhibit. We will prepare all year for next year to have a larger and more collective exhibit.  Stop by if you get a chance and see some of the wonderful work displayed this year.

Thank you so much for your support!  I’ll send further updates soon.  Please e-mail me atrosalia@akcs.org with any questions and info.
