About Tiara Dominguez

This will be my fourth year at Alice King. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in mathematics. I am married and have two children, ages 3 and 1. I love to run and play soccer. I hope to become an expert gardener with my class this year! Kelly Finch is working on her Masters Degree in Education at the University of New Mexico. She will be completing her student teaching this year in our classroom.

News & Homework Jan. 19th

Mark your calendars for February 8th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm!!! Ms. Robyn and myself will be hosting a Literacy Night filled with door prizes, crafts, and learning! Come learn how to effectively read with your student and some great comprehension questions to get them thinking. We will also be creating fun crafts revolving around literacy. Be the lucky one chosen and you will win a door prize! Please bring the whole family for a fun night filled with literacy.

Our class is in need of some notecards, plastic cups, and plastic spoons. If you would like to donate any of these materials please feel free!

January 12th

Homework folders went home today with several different items.

The January/February project description went home. The project that is to be completed by March 6th is their science fair projects. Please read the project description along with the attached suggested timeline. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

A Field Trip permission slip went home. Please complete both sides of the form and send it back along with the $8 by January 19th.

Dec. 9th

The student’s math games were wonderful! I would like to keep several for use throughout the year. If you would like to have your game back, please email me and let me know.

Winter Break begins December 16th. Students will return to school on January 4th.

3rd Annual Board Game Day December 15th 2-3:15pm

Please bring your families favorite board game and join us for some fun. We will begin playing games at 2:00pm. If you would like to bring a healthy snack for all to share please feel free, keeping in mind that we have a nut allergy.

Homework and News Dec. 1st

OOPS!!! Homework folders were not passed out today. Students do have homework and they will receive their math portion on Monday. Please have students complete the homework listed below over the weekend.

Homework: Due Wednesday, December 7th

  • Write a summary on a book (or several chapters) they have read
  • Research a topic related to maps i.e. compass, topographic maps, legends, GPS, history of maps, etc. Pick one topic, research the topic, and write an informative paper on the topic

  • Math Sheets (Passed out on Monday, December 5th)
You are invited to our 3rd Annual Board Game Day!! We will be having Board Game day on Thursday, December 15th at 2:00pm. If you would like to bring a nutritional treat to share with the class that would be wonderful! We do have a nut allergy, so please keep that in mind. Bring in  your favorite board game and come enjoy yourself!

News Nov. 17th

I would like to congratulate Ryan and Lincoln. They were our classroom Spelling Bee champions. They will be competing in the school Spelling Bee on December 15th.

The students have earned a pajama & movie day. This will be on Nov. 22nd. Students will be allowed to wear their pajamas on this day.

Students brought home book orders. If you would like to order books, please send in the form and payment by Tuesday, November 22nd. I would like to order them early in order to receive the books before winter break.

Homework:

There is no homework this week! Math projects are due on Monday, November 21st.

News & Homework Nov. 10th

The students have begun learning about and reading folktales, fairy tales, and fables. The will begin writing their own next week!

We will be reviewing our human body next week and finishing up that unit.

Student Led Conferences are November 17th and 18th. Your student’s time was emailed to you last week. If you are unable to make your time please let me know. Please remember that these conferences are back to back and it is important that we stay on time.

  • IXL – 60 minutes total for the week (Logins and Passwords were emailed to each parent this week)
  • http://kidcrosswords.com/kidreader/aesops_fables/aesops_fables_     table.htm (Students need to visit this site and explore Aesops’ Fables. They will then need to write a summary about their favorite fable. Please include this summary in their homework folder.)

News & Homework Nov. 5th

The students have been very busy learning about the human body. They made posters last week to teach other students how to stay germ free as we approach the cold/flu season. We will be posting these posters around the school this week!

Students also completed a graphing project and descriptive poem using their five senses. They are excited to share them with you at student led conferences.

Conference times went out last Wednesday. If you have a conflict with the time, please let me know as soon as possible. Conferences are being held on Thursday, November 17th and Friday, November 18th.
